Obituary for Betty Faye Whren

Romans 14:8 For whether we live, we live unto the Lord; and whether we die, we die unto the Lord; whether we live therefore, or die, we are the Lord's.

Mrs. Betty Faye Pledger Whren, 71, was born in Iredell County on September 17, 1950, and was the daughter of the late Samuel Pledger and Gladys Creola Glover Pledger. She departed this life on Saturday, August 27, 2022.

Betty graduated from Morningside High School in 1968 and attended Catawba Technical Community College. Prior to her retirement she was employed as a supervisor at Burlington Industries. She was a faithful member of the Divine Ministry Church, Statesville.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Sharon Whren; three grandchildren, Shawn Whren Jr, Taizel Whren, and Legend Duke; five brothers, Rufus Glover, Robert Glover, James Glover, Rodney A. Glover, and Samuel Pledger Jr; a sister, Mary Frances Glover Harris.

She leaves to cherish the memory of her life her husband, James Whren; two sons, Shawn Whren Sr, and Renzel Whren; three sisters-in-laws, Peggy Glover, Barbara Mathis, and Sharon Glover; eight grandchildren, Jacquelyn Whren (caregiver), Sokoya Mock, Zoe Whren, Ren’Niqua Whren, Skylar Moss, Imani Moss, Finesse Smith, and Khadeja Summers; special niece and friend, Francine Glover; special friend, Gail Green; a host of nieces and nephews, some of whom were raised in the same house, other relatives, church family, and friends.

A Celebration of Life Service will be conducted, Friday, September 2, 2022, at 2:30 p.m., at The Living Church of Our Lord Jesus Christ, Statesville. The family will receive friends from 2:00 – 2:30 p.m., at the church. Burial will follow in the Belmont Cemetery, Statesville.
