Obituary for Carol Williams (King)
Your life was a blessing, your memory a treasure
You are loved beyond words, and missed beyond measure
Mrs. Carol Mardinia King Williams, beloved daughter of the late Clyde and Helen Gilmore King, was born in Iredell County on December 20, 1943. She departed this life, peacefully, on Wednesday, June 10, 2020, at Iredell Memorial Hospital in Statesville, N. C. following an extended illness.
She was a graduate of Morningside High School and was employed by J. C. Penny Warehouse until her retirement. At an early age was a member of First Baptist Church where she served faithfully for many years as a Missionary, Choir member and on various committees. At the time of her death, she was a dedicated member of Christian Outreach of the Piedmont where she served as a choir member. She was a member of the Dorcus Chapter Order of the Eastern Star.
She was married to Willie Paul “Red” Williams, who preceded her death. In addition to her husband, Red, and her parents, Clyde and Helen, she was also preceded in death by two sons, Willie Williams, Jr. and Roderick “Roddy” Davis; two daughters, Lanesia Ikard and Linda Everhart; two sisters, Pam Malone and Patricia “Trish” Stevenson; a granddaughter, LaToya Everhart; her in-laws, Carrie Bell “Gig” Williams Ramsey and Roy Winford; her brothers-in-law, Freddie Williams, Rufus Ramsey, Johnathan Ramsey and George Ramsey, Jr.
She leaves to cherish the memory of her life, four daughters, Cherie (Chris) Gillion and Avis (Sonny) Schofield, both of Statesville, Tenna Williams of Huntersville, and Ruta (Pastor Glen) Usry of Salisbury; a god daughter, Nora Stevenson; god sons, Jamey Johnson and Marcus Stevenson, both of Statesville; brothers-in-law, June Stevenson of Statesville and Phillip (Carol) Ramsey of Winston-Salem; four sisters-in-law, Ruth (William) Summers of Wilmington, Deleware, Juanita Ramsey of Winston-Salem, Francine (Wayne) Mauney of Statesville and Diane (Tommy) McDaniels of Tennessee; fourteen grandchildren, Asia (Marcus) Smith, Raykesha “Kera” Everhart, Contesa (Daniel) Culbreath, Landry Schofield, Titus Summers, Warren Schofield, Marquis Peet; Kiara Peet, Nick Schofield, Vashti Usry, Fredrick Cherry, Corban Usry, Jania Ikard, and Ronekia Parks; great grandchildren, Dantasia Culbreath, Khalyah Culbreath, Kylan Culbreath, Aubrey Graham, Aden Usry, Kameron Peet, Ke’Mari Knox, Derryck Turner, III, Kamiya Peet, Skylar Westmoreland, Dakota Turner, Malteaven Dalton, King Cherry, Lavae Graham, Journey Schofield, A’Miracle La’Reign Corpening, Titus Summers, Jr., Corshaunte Brandon, Martrez Smith, Markaylan Smith, Toyuan Miller, and Naraysha Miller; one great great grandchild, Malachi Casey; special cousins, Barbara Turner, Nate Turner, and Dr. Gregory K. Moss, Sr.; the family of Robert and Lola Bell Stevenson; extended family, Greta Angle, Jennifer Privette, Michelle Pounell and Michael Privette; special friends, Dollietha Daniels, Jackie R. Robinson, Barbara Frazier, Veronica Sherrill, Landa Houston, Harvey Lackey, Patsy Finger, and Crystal Scott, the Christian Outreach Church Family, other relatives and friends.
Our Mother taught us everything, except how to live without her.
Thank you for honoring the memory of our beloved Carol and for remembering us during her illness and passing. Special thanks to Dr. James and Jan Hunter, Dr. Zachariah, Dr. Naren, Dr. Moran and Christy Georgeson who provided special care for our mother. Celebration of Life Services will be conducted Sunday, June 14, 2020, at 2:00 p.m. at The Christian Outreach of the Piedmont. Pastor Glen J. Usry will officiate and burial will follow in the Belmont Cemetery.
Mrs. Williams will remain at Rutledge and Bigham Funeral Home until taken to the church to lie in state at 1:00 p.m.
