Obituary for Darlene Lenee "Tina" Dalton (Smyre)

Whoever dwells in the shelter of the Most High, well rest in the shadow of the Almighty. Psalms 91: 1

Weeping may endure for a night… but JOY comes in the morning!

Mrs. Darlene Lenee Smyre Dalton, affectionately known as “Tina” was born in Iredell County on January 1, 1968. She entered into eternal rest on July 22, 2020, in Winston-Salem, N. C. She was the daughter of the late Jannie Louise Swift Smyre and Johnny Smyre.

She attended Statesville High School and was a member at Mt. Nebo Church of Harmony, N.C. Darlene was a homemaker for many years, and she enjoyed spending time with her family. In her spare time, she loved to clean up, maintain her fish bowl, fish, play bingo, play cards or casino with family and friends. She also liked to play candy crush, and loved to listen to music; but most of all, she loved fun times with her family. Singing and dancing making memories was all she ever wanted to do because to her making memories was important, it was everything. She loved her family so much and prayed for them daily.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by an infant child, Hurel Burch, Jr.; her grandmother, Ulla Bell Swift; one great aunt, Lula Mae Griffin; one aunt, Linda Smyre; two uncles, Roy Imes and Donald Ray Smyre; one nephew, Joseph Parsons, Jr.; a niece, Tey’Honnah Dye; five cousins, Rebecca Wallace, Henrietta Griffin, Gregory Swift, Freeman Y.G. Wells and Vince Deshawn Parks; a special aunt, Andrea Jordan; one sister-in-law, Elizabeth Booe and one brother-in-law, Early Vince Booe, III.

She leaves to cherish the memory of her life, her loving husband, Robert L Dalton of the home; four children, Tiylisa (Troy) Smyre, Christina (Cameron) Cuthrell, Michael (Cierra) Swift and Olandis (Larissa) Chambers, Jr.; two additional children by marriage, Derrick (Angel) Dalton and David (Shala) Dalton; ten brothers, Tony Swift, Franklin (Keenan) Smyre, John Smyre, Brian Smyre, Roger (Victoria) Smyre, Roy (Serena) Smyre, Corey Smyre, Calvin Smyre, Thomas (Darrius) Swift, and Anthony Smyre; three sisters, Natasha (James) Smyre, Tamika (Marvin) Caldwell, and Regina (Joseph) Parsons; a special mother, Patricia Ann White; special brothers and sisters, Sara Moss, Michael Moss, Morris Frasier, Talicia Brown, Shannon Brown, and Felicia Brown; two aunts, Louise (Larry) Imes and Mamie Lou Parks; four special cousins, Derrick Parks, David Parks, Penny (Virano) Kimbrough, and Josephine (Brian) Jones; two nieces whom she raised, Candice (Moses) Pinkney and Daphanie Smyre; thirteen grandchildren, Chan’Taieya Dulin, Derrick Dalton, Aaron Dalton, Dorian Dalton, Ashlynn Dalton, Naechadyn Smyre, Cha’Rez McGee, Shaira Tillery, Peyton Cuthrell, Samirra Swift, Nirvana Mills, Ameah Chambers and Michael Swift Jr.; one great granddaughter, Avi’Yona Dulin; five close friends, Monique Tazewell, Betty Frasier, Beatrice Dalton, Deshon Stovall and Kay Lewis; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, the Mt. Nebo Family, other relatives as well as special friends.

As long as life and memory last… we will remember you!
