Obituary for Desmond Tremayne Whitesides

Revelation 21:4 " He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away."

Mr. Desmond Tremayne Whitesides, 51, was born in iredell County, on December 5, 1971 to Renee Stephens and the late Bennie Whitesides. He departed this life on Monday, March 13, 2023, at Iredell Memorial Hospital.

"Butchie", as he was affectionately known by his family and friends was a 1990 graduate of South Iredell High School. He was employed with Scorpion Moving Company. He would cut hair in his spare time. He was a kind loving person and a man of few words. He loved watching sports and his favorite teams was the Carolina Tarheels and the Dallas Cowboys.

In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his step-father, Edward Stephens and one brother, Kevin Hairston; maternal grandparents, Jaycee & Pearlie Turner Peet; paternal grandparents, Brodie and Eva Whitesides; uncles, James Cecil Peet, Larry Whitesides and Brodie Whitesides.

Desmond leaves to cherish the memory of his life, his mother, Renee Peet Stephens of Troutman, NC; one son, Desmond Bellanmy of Troutman, NC, two daughters, Essence Whitesides, of Hickory, NC, and Dezeray Whitesides, from Woodbridge, VA, three brothers, Terrence Peet of Woodbridge, VA, Anthony Peet, Woodbridge, VA, Derrick Turner of Greensboro, NC; one sister, Margie Harriston of Statesville; uncles, Gary Peet, Charles Peet and Robert Whitesides, Bishop Aljamel (Penny) Stephens; aunts, Celia Gentry, Sandra Johnson, Margie Peet Oden, Margaret Keaton, Geneva (Harvey) Gray, Mamie Whitesides, Grace Whitesides, and Eva Whitesides Corry; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, neighbors, and friends. Desmond, also leaves a special friends, Bobby Renwrick, Jr.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Wednesday, March 22, 2023, at Rutledge and Bigham Funeral Home, at 2:00 pm. The family will receive friends from 1:30-2:00 pm.
