Obituary for Dorothy Mintz

Mrs. Dorothy Mae Clark Mintz, 79, was born in Iredell County on October 14, 1942, to the late James Arthur Clark, Sr. and Ida Mae Connor Clark. She transitioned on Monday, October 3, 2022 at Gordon Hospice House, Statesville, NC.

Dorothy was a graduate of Unity High School. She was a dedicated member of Logan Presbyterian Church where she served as an elder for over 40 years. She has served on a Salem Presbytery committee and as a commissioner to the general assembly. Mrs. Mintz served as president of the Chancel Choir and a member of the Senior Choir. She was a member of the Progressive and Presbyterian Women’s organizations. Dorothy and the late Virginia McClelland used their amazing culinary skills to orchestrate delicious meals for the church. Dorothy was a faithful volunteer for Yokefellow Ministries, having served as a board member and as a volunteer for over 20 years. Dorothy served as a board member of the Foothills Sickle Cell Anemia Foundation since its inception. Additionally, Mrs. Mintz joined other singers to faithfully sing to the residents at Maple Leaf Nursing Home. Her previous employment include Beauty Maid Mills, Hunt Manufacturing Company and a food service employee for the school system.

In addition to her parents, Dorothy was proceeded in death by her husband, Arthur Andrew Mintz Jr.; brothers, Thomas Clark, Jimmy Clark, Wesley Clark, William Clark, and Jerry Clark; sisters, Barbara Clark, Henrietta Alexander, Queen Elizabeth Turner, Cora Mayberry, Frances Conner, and Mamie Connor; a niece, Deborah Heaggans; nephews Dennis Clark, Tony Clark, Keith Clark and a great nephew, Michael Turner.

She is survived by a son, Dwight Clark and a daughter, Tonia Mintz Holmes; grandchildren: Tyris Mintz, LeTronda Summers (Martavin), LaKeitha Mintz, and KeAndre Mintz; great grandchildren; Ah’Morah Summers, August Summers, A’Dynn Clark, Tywan Pete, Aziah Myers, Elijah Krider, Kyris Mintz, Malik Myers, London Glover, Landan Glover, Rain Tomlin, Major Martin, Kaison Patterson, Kalani Mintz, Sebastian Watkins, and Nolan Redmon; in-laws, Martha Clark, Charlie Alexander, Mary Francis Clark, Joyce Evans, Kaye Mintz, Gene Mintz, Charles Mintz and Harold Mintz (Eunice); a special friend, William Frost and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, other relatives and very special friends.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, October 8, 2022, at Logan Presbyterian Church, Statesville, NC. at 2:00 pm. Visitation will be from 1-2:00 pm. Reverend Ziglar will conduct the eulogy. Burial will follow in the Logan Presbyterian Cemetery.
