Obituary for Earnest Sharpe

John 14 :1-3 "Let not your hearts be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me."

Mr. Earnest Carter Sharpe Jr., 70 was born in Iredell County on February 29, 1952, to the late Earnest Carter Sharpe Sr. And Mattie Parker Sharpe. He departed this life on Friday, December 2, 2022, at his home.

He attended Iredell County Schools and graduated from South Iredell High School. He was a devoted member of the Mt. Vernon Presbyterian Church where he was a Trustee. He worked for the Iredell County School System as a custodian.

He was preceded in death by his parents Earnest Carter Sharpe Sr. And Mattie Parker Sharpe; by his nephew, Orlando Culbertson; and by his two brothers, James Weldon Sharpe, and William Thomas Sharpe.

He leaves to cherish the memory of his life, his wife Sarah Gardin Sharpe; two sons, Ryan Sharpe of the home, and Joshua Sharpe of Statesville; one daughter, Ashley Sharpe of Elmwood Park, New Jersey; one brother, Rickey (Dorthera) Young of Statesville; brother-in-law, Frank Gardin of Morganton, NC; sisters-in-law, Charlotte Gardin, Mary Collette (Joe), Thelma Gardin, all of Morganton, NC, and Linda Gardin of Elmwood Park, NJ; two sisters, Dorothy (Roman) Culbertson of Cleveland, NC, and Sheryl (Robert) Harrison of Wayne, PA; aunts and uncles, Furman Sharpe (Esther), Kenny Sharpe(Virgina), Lucy Mills, Paul Parker (Mary), Dave Parker, and Mary Parker; one special niece, Deanna Singleteary(Jamilyin) of Cleveland, NC; two great nieces, Desirae Culbertson and Destiny Davis; and a host of nieces and nephews, other family members, church family, and friends.

A Celebration of Life service will be held on Friday, December 16, 2022, at 12:00 pm at Rutledge and Bigham Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 11:30 am – 12:00 pm at the funeral home.
