Obituary for Edward Summers

Ecclesiastes 12:7: "Then shall dust return to the earth as it was: and the spirit shall return unto God who gave it"
Mr. Edward Mebane Summers, was born in Iredell County on March 20, 1940, and was the son of the late Clay and Beulah Steele Summers. He departed this life on Sunday, July 5, 2020, at Iredell Memorial Hospital.
He attended Unity High Schools and Mt. Nebo Baptist Church in Harmony. He was a construction worker and was a loving person.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Dwight Summers, Charles Summers, Roger Lee Summers and Walter Summers.
He leaves to cherish the memory of his life, his fiancée, Michelle Jackson of the home; three sons, Scott Summers of Maryland, Tony Summers of Washington, Kevin Edward Richardson of Greensboro; two daughters, Lynda Hooper Thompson of Washington, DC and Nina Elizabeth (George) Scott of Charlotte; one sister, Beulah Mae Summers Smith of Salisbury, N.C.; and a host of grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, neighbors and friends.

Celebration of Life Services will be conducted Friday, July 10, 2020, at 2:00 p.m. at Rutledge and Bigham Funeral Home. Pastor Jerry Moore will officiate and Pastor Emmanuel Brown will eulogize. Burial will follow in the Belmont Cemetery.

YOU CAN ONLY ENTER THE FUNERAL WITH A FUNERAL PASS WHICH WILL BE GIVEN TO THE FAMILY.

GENERAL PUBLIC VIEWING WILL BE FROM 1:00 P.M. UNTIL 7:00 P.M. ON Thursday, July 9, 2020. IT WILL RESUME ON Friday, July 10, 2020 FROM 9:00 A.M. UNTIL THE FUNERAL HOUR.
