Matthew 11:28-30
Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you. Let me teach you, because I am humble and gentle at heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy to bear, and the burden I give you is light.
Mrs. Ella Mae Sharpe Parker, 90, was born in Iredell County on September 22, 1932, to the late Hugh Merlin Sharpe and Oatie Mae Lackey Sharpe. She departed this life on Sunday, November 6, 2022, at S. Mitchell Mack Hospice House, Mooresville, NC.
Ella Mae worked as a private duty Certified Nurse Assistant. She was a lifetime member of Shepherds Church of God in Mooresville, NC, and later moved her membership to Greater Lilly's Chapel in Statesville, NC.
In addition to her late parents, Ella Mae was preceded in death by a sister, Frances Lee Tomlin Epps; four brothers, Hugh Merlin Sharpe, Jr., William Amos Sharpe, Ernest Carter Sharpe, and Alburtus Sharpe.
She is survived by her husband, David Jones Parker of the home; one son, David W. Parker of Bowie, MD; one daughter, Peggy A. Parker of Decatur, GA.; two brothers, Furman C. (Esther) Sharpe of Simpsonville, SC and Charles Kenneth (Virginia) Sharpe of Charlotte, NC; two godsons, Keith Sylvester (LaQuita) Parker, of Crestview, FL and Jermel Stewart of Statesville, NC; one brother-in-law, Paul (Mary Lois) Parker of Mooresville; three sisters-in-law, Lucy Mills, Mary Parker both of Mooresville, NC and Magdalene Davis of Statesville, NC; a special cousin, Bettye Tull of Fort Mill, SC; and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, other relatives and friends.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Monday, November 14, 2022, at New Life Missionary Baptist Church, at 1:00 pm. Mrs. Parker will remain at Rutledge and Bigham Funeral Home until taken to the church to lie in state at 11:30 am. Members of the family will receive friends at the church one hour, 12:00 pm. until 1:00 pm. Elder Wade Ikard, will officiate and Elder Keith Williams, will deliver the eulogy. Burial will be on Tuesday, November 14, 2022 at 11:00 am, in the Iredell Memorial Park in Statesville, NC.
