Obituary for Fredrick Allen "Smurf" Murdock Jr.

Mr. Fredrick Allen Murdock, Jr., affectionately called Smurf, 37, of 117 Danbury Lane, Statesville, N. C. was born in Iredell County on December 3, 1982, and was the son of Iris Wilson Murdock and late Fredrick Allen Murdock, Sr. He departed this life on Wednesday, May 27, 2020, at Presbyterian Medical Center in Charlotte, N.C.
He was a 2001 graduate of Statesville High School, Catawba Valley Community College and was a member of Chestnut Grove Baptist Church. At the time of his death, he was employed as a PDI Technician at Freightliner.
In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his grandparents, Lynn and Elnora Wilson and Ferg Murdock and Mary Lee Murdock Lazenby.
He leaves to cherish the memory of his life, his children, Keshawn Zyheir Murdock, Kamyah C. Murdock and Khalea A. Murdock; two sisters, LaFreda (John) Jackson and Tihana N. Murdock, both of Statesville, NC; his girlfriend, Erica N. Smith of Richmond, VA; his aunts and uncles, Seifullah (Mahasin) El-Amin and Valerie (Cecil) Mayberry, both of Statesville, Lillian (James) Tillman of Charlotte, Faith Wilson, Nina (Warren) James, all of Statesville, Tana Imes of Hickory, Glynita Wilson, Artis Murdock, Larry (Rebecca) Murdock, Clifton (Tara) Murdock, Craig (Markina) Murdock, Barbara Knox, Gay Nell Wall, Gilda Murdock, and Peggy Murdock, of all of Statesville; and a host of cousins, other relatives and friends.
Celebration of Life Services will be conducted Wednesday, June 3, 2020, at Rutledge and Bigham Funeral Home. Burial will follow in the Belmont Cemetery.

General Public viewing will begin at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 2, 2020 at the funeral home and will resume on Wednesday, June 3, 2020 at 9:00 a.m. until the funeral hour.
There will be NO PUBLIC VISITATION, unfortunately, with the COVID-19 Virus we, at Rutledge and Bigham Funeral Home, along with other funeral homes across the country, have been issued a mandate to limit the number of family and/or friends at funeral services. YOU CAN ONLY ENTER THE FUNERAL WITH A FUNERAL PASS WHICH WILL BE GIVEN TO THE FAMILY.
