Obituary

The Family Tribute
Celebrating and Remembering the Life of
Mr. Glenn Lesele Moten
And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away. Revelation 21:4-6

Glenn Lesele Moten was born in Statesville, N. C. on November 26, 1960, and was the son of the late Charlie Author Moten and Gaszelle Hallmon Moten. He departed this life on Monday, August 10, 2020, in California unexpectedly.

He graduated from Statesville High School in 1978, and retired from J. C. Penny. He started to drive trucks and was so happy and proud of that. Back in the day, he was a D. J, and his name was Moto. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved sisters, Lucille Moten Bruner, Linda Renee Moten, Debea Moten Pruit, his brother, Charles Moten; a brother-in-law, John “Frank” Franklin Bruner, Sr. and his father-in-law, Robert L. Gibbs. He was married to Kimberly Gibbs Moten, who survives.

He leaves to cherish the memory of his life, his beloved wife, Kimberly Gibbs Moten of the home; his children, Ketra Gibbs (Jon) Gore, Glenn Moten, Jr., Kaelan Moten (Antonio) McDonald, Angel Moten and Angelo Moten; his grandchildren, Jaylen Gore, Aliyah Gibbs, Trevyn Murdock, Alayna McDonald, Kalaya McDonald, Antonio McDonald, Jayden Richardson, Yah’riha Moten, and Yahshua Moten; his sister, Mary Lou Moten, Betty Moten and Caroline Moten Clarke; his mother-in-law, Kathleen Gibbs; aunts, Annette Blackburn of Statesville and Sadie Frances of Baltimore, Maryland, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, co-workers and friends.

The call was sudden, the shock severe.
With little thought such grief was near.
Only those who have lost loved ones can tell,
the pain and parting without farewell.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Wednesday, August 26, 2020, 2:00 pm, at Highland Acres Church of Christ, in Statesville, with Pastor Al Simmons doing the eulogy. Burial will follow in the Belmont cemetery. The body will be taken to the church at 1:00 pm for public viewing until the family arrives at 2:00 pm.

There will be NO PUBLIC VISITATION (WAKE), unfortunately, with the COVID-19 Virus. We, at Rutledge and Bigham Funeral Home, along with other funeral homes across the country, have been issued a mandate to limit the number of family and/or friends at funeral services. YOU CAN ONLY ENTER THE FUNERAL WITH A FUNERAL PASS WHICH WILL BE GIVEN TO THE FAMILY.
