Obituary for Harrill Eugene Vanderburg

Revelation 21:4 He will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and death shall be no more, neither shall there be mourning, nor crying, nor pain anymore, for the former things have passed away."

The Family Tribute
Harrill Eugene Vanderburg, Sr., was born in Iredell County on June 12, 1949, and was the son of the late William and Roberta Torrence Vanderburg. He departed this life on Monday, May 25, 2020 at Accordius Health Center following an extended illness.
He was graduated of Unity High School and was a member of the United Church of Christ in Mooresville where he served as a Deacon. He was married to Elaine Jones Vanderburg. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Ivory Alfonzo Vanderburg, Vernon Vanderburg and Charles “Bunny” Vanderburg.
He leaves to cherish the memory of his life, his children, Harrill E. Vanderburg, Jr. of Mooresville, Paula D. Vanderburg of Lawrenceville, Georgia, Ivory E. Vanderburg and Shane B. Vanderburg, both of Mooresville, NC, Angela Leach of Statesville; and Somone Massey of Kannapolis; his godchildren, Senetra Mills and Tyrone (Cynthia) Mills, both of Mooresville, NC; one brother, Reverend William (Mary) Vanderburg of Mooresville; one sister, Vera (Dennis) Long of Troutman; one sister-in-law, Kathy Vanderburg; thirteen grandchildren; four great grandchildren; his special friend, Judy Mills of the home; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and dear friends.


There is an open gate, at the end of the road
Through which must go alone
And there in a light, we cannot see
Our Father claim His own,
Beyond the gate our loved one
Finds happiness and rest
And there is comfort in the thought
That a loving God knows best


Celebration of Life Services will be conducted Sunday, May 31, 2020, at 1:00 p.m. at Rutledge and Bigham Funeral Home. Reverend William Vanderburg will officiate and burial will follow in the Iredell Memorial Park.

General Public viewing will be held on Saturday, May 30, 2020 until 7:00 p.m. and resume on Sunday, May 31, 2020 from 9:00 a.m. until the funeral hour.

There will be NO PUBLIC VISITATION, unfortunately, with the COVID-19 Virus we, at Rutledge and Bigham Funeral Home, along with other funeral homes across the country, have been issued a mandate to limit the number of family and/or friends at funeral services. YOU CAN ONLY ENTER THE FUNERAL WITH A FUNERAL PASS WHICH WILL BE GIVEN TO THE FAMILY.
