Obituary for Jerome William Phifer

In heaven, we will feel no pain, no sorrow, and there will be no death.

Jerome William Phifer, 85, of Mooresville, N/C., was born in Iredell County on May 1, 1037, to the late parents of J.C. Phifer and Eloise Vanderburg Phifer. He entered into eternal rest at his home on Monday, October 17, 2022. He attended Dunbar High School before moving to Brooklyn, N.Y.. He then enlisted in the United States Air Force, where he was honorable discharged after serving four years. He was employed and retired from the United States Postal Service.

In addition to his parents, Jerome was preceded in death by his wife, Velma Phifer, two sons, Harrison Phifer, and Jerome W. Phifer, Jr..

He attended Watkins Chapel AME Zion Church at early age. but moved later he moved his family back to Brooklyn, N.Y., and in 2015 Jerome moved back to Mooresville where he began to attend Watkins Chapel Church.

He leaves to cherish the memories of his life, four daughters, Carmen Phifer and Iris Phifer, both of Hampton, Virginia; Renita Phifer and Jeania Phifer, both of Brooklyn, N.Y.; two granddaughters, Nygeria Phifer, and Faith Tatum, of Hampton, Virginia; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, October 28, 2022, at Watkins Chapel AME Zion Church, Mooresville, N.C., at 12:00 p.m.. Visitation with the family will be from 11-12:00 pm., at the church. Reverend Steven Howard, will officiate. Clyburn and Bigham is serving the Phifer family.

We thank God for his love and protection. The entire family of Jerome Phifer Sr. wish to thank everyone for your prayers, concerns, and acts of kindness shown during their hours of bereavement. May God continue to bless each of you, and grant His favor.
