Mrs. JoAnna Gray Ramseur, 77, of 836 Knox Avenue, was born in Iredell County on May 4, 1942, and was the daughter of the late Louis Collins and Viola Gray Rosby. She passed away at Iredell Memorial Hospital, on Tuesday, April 13, 2020. She was married to Thomas Dewyatt "Butch" Ramseur Sr., who passed away in 2018.
She was a graduate of Morningside High School and graduated from Mitchell Community College with a Nursing Degree. She retired from Iredell Memorial Hospital where she was a nurse and attended Chestnut Grove Baptist Church. She was married to Thomas Dewyatt “Butch” Ramseur, Sr., who preceded her in death in 2018, A daughter, Vickie Woods; a brother, Kurt Ridley; sisters, Grace Turner and Anne Brown; five brothers-in-law, John, Ray, Melvin, Lonnjean, Whitfield Ramseur, Rodney (Mary) Ramseur, Jr. of Statesville one sister-in-law, Elnora Wilson, also preceded her in death.
She leaves to cherish the memory of her life, three sons, Thomas D. Ramseur, Jr., Ricky D. Ramseur and Marty D. Ramseur; two daughters, Karen (Kie, Jr.) Gray of Winston-Salem and Deborah L. Ramseur of Statesville; two brothers, Terry Lee Rosby of Statesville and Rev. David Keith (Sharon) Rosby of Louisburg; a sister, Dorothy Woodard of Statesville; a special niece, Linda Dalton; special friends, Tony (Wilma) Bailey, Gail Knox, Nettie Turner, and Terry Turner; two brothers-in-law, Shirley (Mildred) Ramseur of Harmony and Darell Keith Turner of Statesville; four sisters-in-law, Sarah Ruth Ramseur; Lottie Chambers and Blondean Ramseur, all of Statesville and Betty James of Harmony; twelve grandchildren, Jabrell Ramseur of Statesville, Robert (Christina) Ramseur of Clemmons, Quentin Ramseur of Statesville, Coite Gillion of Charlotte, Brittany Gillion of Statesville, Kasi Gillion of Charlotte, Rashad Ramseur of Statesville, Shon (Olivia) Ramseur of Boone, Andew Ramseur of Raleigh, Ericka Springirth of Florida, Keniana Bowman and Charles D. Woods, both of Statesville; thirteen great grandchildren, Kahleel Bailey, Zyrek Ramseur, Aiden Ramseur, Arianna Ramseur, Alyious Ramseur, Allyiah Ramseur, Trinitee Gillion, Kheri Gillion, Tristan Springirth, Cy Springirth, Zavion Ramseur, Andrew Ramseur and Nettie Ramseur; Morningside Classmates, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
Love will be what we remember the most!
Celebration of Life Service will be conducted Friday, April 17, 2020, at 1:00 p.m. at Rutledge and Bigham Funeral Home. Reverend Dale Gibson will officiate and Dr. David Keith Rosby will eulogize with burial following in the Chestnut Grove Baptist Church Cemetery.
Mrs. Rosby will remain at Rutledge and Bigham Funeral Home where public viewing will start on Thursday, April 17, 2020, at 2:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. and again on Friday, April 18, 2020, from 9:00 a.m. until the funeral hour.
There will be NO PUBLIC VISITATION, unfortunately, with the COVID-19 Virus we, at Rutledge and Bigham Funeral Home, along with other funeral homes across the country, have been issued a mandate to limit the number of family and/or friends at funeral services. YOU CAN ONLY ENTER THE FUNERAL WITH A FUNERAL PASS WHICH WILL BE GIVEN TO THE FAMILY.
