Obituary for John Edward "Hot Rod" Murdock

John 14: 1-3 " Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me. In my Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto me."

Mr. John Edward Murdock
Memory has a beautiful way of keeping our loved ones near,
Ever close in our hearts and minds are the ones we hold most dear.

Mr. John Edward Murdock, affectionately called, "Hot Rod", was born in Iredell County on February 25, 1959, and was the son of the late John Edward Alexander and Betty Jane Murdock. He passed away on Sunday, April 24, 2022, at Atrium Hospital in Charlotte, NC.

Following graduation, John worked as a cook in the restaurant industry. John loved his family and will truly be missed.

He leaves to cherish the memory of his life, two daughters, Sparkle Harris and Syria Blackwell; three sons, Maurice Murdock, Ajanaku Murdock, and Lamerick Blackwell; one brother, Curtis (Loretta) Alexander; one sister, Teresa (Johnny) Jones; two uncles, Nate (Lillie) Murdock and Eddie Burch; one aunt, Cynthia Holmes; three foster sisters, Pamela Anderson, Renae Polk, and Beverly Pickens; one foster brother, Tony Hayden; nine grandchildren, Amir Blackwell, Zamera Blackwell, Zariah Blackwell, Azden Caldwell, Braelen Caldwell, Isnael Damera, Ajaya Blackwell, Dayshia Blackwell, and Jaxson A. Murdock; and a host of cousins, other relatives, and friends.

It seems so unreal that you are gone
When just the other day
You walked and talked and laughed with us
Then suddenly slipped away.
Your peaceful smile, your joyful laugh
How sweet the memory still
Your parting left an aching void
Only God’s love can fill.
Lovingly submitted,
The Family
