She attended Morningside High School and was a faithful member of First Baptist Church on Garfield Street serving on numerous committees over the years. She was employed by Uniglass for over thirty-nine years and her favorite past time was shopping at Belk and yard sales. She was a loving and devoted mother, grandmother, sister and friend.

She was married to David Parks, who preceded her in death. In addition to her parents and husband, she was also preceded in death by two grandchildren, Paul Mulkey and Lakeshia Parks; two brothers, Hugh Gaither and Johnny Gaither, a sister, Frances Wilkins, two brothers-in-law, Willie Wilkins and Robert E Griffin, a son-in-law, Kreg Jenkins; sister-in-law, Shirley Long Gaither and two nieces, Pamela Currence and Kimberly Wilkins.

She leaves to remember the blessing of her life, her children, Phyllis Perrin of the home, Paulette (Jasper) Yates, Ernestine (Rudolph) Millsaps, Albert (Aida) Perrin, Karen (Vernon) Tomlin, Tracy (Joe) Rucker, Jr., Lorna Bailey and Sharon Parks, all of Statesville and Alisha Jenkins of Albany, Georgia; one sister, Flora Griffin of Statesville; a goddaughter, Shirley Johnson Chambers; her grandchildren, Michael Perrin, Joetrina (Tim) Blackmon, Joe Sherrill, Jr., Albert Perrin, Jr., Kenan Myers, Jennifer McKay, David Rucker, Leslie Rucker, Joe Rucker, III, Terry (Brittany) Turner, Jr., Ashley Holbrook, Brian McClelland, Kendric (Aletha) Parks, Shauna Redmon, Quinton Nichols, Nikki Peet and Vershan Sherrill; a first cousin, Lila Dalton; a host of great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, The First Baptist Church Family, and friends.

A Celebration of Life Service will be conducted Saturday, February 20, 2021, 1:00 pm, at First Baptist Church. Mrs. Parks will lie in state thirty minutes prior to the service at the church. Reverend J. W. Brunson will officiate and burial will follow at the St. Joseph Baptist Church Cemetery.

Phyllis, Flora and Family,
I loved Ms. Josephine. She had so much energy and a great personality. There was never a dull moment when you were with her. She raised all her children to strive for the best and you did. She was so proud of you and I know you were proud of her. I pray that God will comfort you in the days to come. You have our deepest sympathy.
