Mr. Kontrel Diviese Mayfield, 43, affectionately called "Black", was born in Iredell County, on June 5, 1979, to Roy Teasley and the late Donna Marie Mayfield. He departed this life on Thursday, January 26, 2023.
Kontrel attended Iredell City Schools, and he was self employed as a barber. He loved cutting his grandchildren's hair. Kontrel loved sports, and his favorite teams were the Carolina Tarheels and the Miami Dolphins.
In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by his grandmother, Dorothy Corene Mayfield, uncles and aunt, Dale Mayfield, Trudean Mayfield Blackwell, Charles Mayfield.
He leaves to cherish the memory of his life, his father, Roy Teasley; his children, Alexis Jaquary Blackwell, Destiny LaShae Mayfield, Jazlyn Marie Mayfield, and Kontrel Diviest Mayfield, Jr., all of Statesville; brothers, Courtney Mayfield, and Curtis Mayfield, both of Troutman; sister, Tosura (John) Camp, of Statesville; his grandfather, Charles Grant; aunts, Shelia Mayfield, and Rosetta Cherry; uncles, Anthony Cherry, Michael Goss, Kendall (Pamela) Goss, and David Mayfield; his grandchildren, Ayden Blackwell, Sean Blackwell, Breylen Blackwell, and Savyah Williams; all of Statesville; his special friend, Shannon Blackwell, of Statesville; a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins including David Parks; other relatives, neighbors and friends.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Wednesday, February 1, 2023, at 2:00 pm at Rutledge and Bigham Mortuary, Statesville. The visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 pm at the funeral home prior to the service. The family will assemble at the residence of a daughter, Alexis Blackwell, 922 Cherry St., Statesville, NC at other times.
