Obituary for Marvin Dewitt Colvert
Mr. Marvin Dewitt Colvert, 65, of 314 Gray Street, passed away at Iredell Memorial Hospital on Sunday, January 29, 2023, following an extended illness. He was born in Iredell County on May 6, 1957, and was the son of the late Claude and Cassie Mae Pledger Colvert. He was married to Pauline Mills Colvert, who also preceded him in death.
In addition to his wife and parents, he was also preceded in death by brothers, Claude Colvert, Jr. and John Irvin Colvert; his brothers-in-law, Ben Mills, John Mills, Roger Mills, Willis Mills and James Mills, Jr., a sister-in-law, Georgianna Berryman, a nephew, Ben Mills; a granddaughter, Tey’Honnah Lynette Dye, and a special grandson, Kenyon Dulin.
He attended the Iredell County Schools and was a member of Liberty Grove Baptist Church in Taylorsville.
He leaves to cherish the memory of his life, three children, Delisa Michelle (Curtis Trapp) Caldwell, Nikki Nicole (William Sherrill) Caldwell and Marvin (Tamika Smyre) Caldwell, all of Statesville; one sister, Annie Mills of Statesville; grandchildren, Curtis Trapp, Jr., Ciera (Sean) Tutt, Alexander Trapp, Jared Murell, Terrance Murrell, Ty’keira Swift, Tey’kian Dye, Tylonda Smyre, Melvin (Tempess) Colvert, and Tyrone Dye; great grandchildren, Harmony Murell, Anais Trapp, Quenton Carruth, Jr., Amiya Smyre, Serenity Carruth, Te’yaila Knotts, Tay’lyn Daniels and Ty’hon Dye; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends.
Celebration of Life Services will be conducted Friday, February 3, 2023, at 1:00 p.m. at Rutledge and Bigham Funeral Home. Reverend Elliott Bo will officiate and burial will follow in the Liberty Grove Cemetery in Taylorsville, N C.
Mr. Colvert will remain at Rutledge and Bigham Funeral Home where members of the family will receive friends from 12:00 until 1:00 p.m., one hour prior to the funeral service.
