Obituary for Mary Lawrence (Moore)

Mrs. Mary Moore Lawrence, was born in Iredell County, N. C. on June 22, 1936, and was the daughter of the late Glenn Lester Moore and Mary Eliza Sloan Moore. She departed this life on Wednesday, September 23, 2020, at the Gordon Hospice House in Statesville, N. C. following an extended illness.

She graduated from Troutman Elementary School with Honors and Unity High School in 1954 with Honors. She received a four year scholarship to Spelman College, attended Mitchell Community College and Statesville Business College.

She was formerly employed as Manager of Cato's Department Store for ten years, Teller at Citizens Federal Savings and Loan, Sales Supervisor of the Shoe Department at Belk's in Signal Hill Mall (retired 1998). On December 17, 1955, she was united in marriage to Freddie Dee Lawrence, who preceded her in death.

In addition to her parents, and husband, she was preceded in death by step-daughter, Regina G. Rucker; two brothers, Manuel B. Moore, Sr. and Calvin Pressly Moore; one sister, Daisy Bell Moore Johnson; a half sister, Diane Wilson; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Robert Reid (Betty Lou) Lawrence, William Morris Lawrence, Patsy Ruth Lawrence, Aleece Lawrence (John, Jr.) Stamps, Gertrude Lawrence Moore, James Edward (Diane) Lawrence; and Michael Lawrence.

She leaves to cherish the memory of her life, one son, Reginald J. Lawrence of Statesville; one daughter, Lisa E. Lawrence of Charlotte; a step-daughter, Carla June (Richard) Boles of Atlanta, Ga.; one brother, Rufus Moore of San Antonio, TX; one sister, Marie Moore Cowan of Troutman; a half brother, Michael Moore of Washington, MD, Donnie (Sharon) Campbell and Colette Jeffries, both of Indian Trail and Michael and Yvonne Umphrey of Raleigh, NC; two sisters-in-law, Rebecca Louise Lawrence (Hubert) Bellamy and Elizabeth Lawrence (Pecoliar "Peco") Williams; seven grandchildren, O'Jeda Hall, Gregory Boles, Carlos DuJuan Lawrence, Christian Blake Lawrence, Jordin Olivia Lawrence, Matthew Rucker and Amaris Rucker; three great grandchildren, Cameron DuJuan Lawrence, Diylon Allen-Lawrence and Jordan Clarke; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and dear friends
