Obituary for Mattie Sharpe

Mrs. Mattie Sharpe, 92, daughter of the late Jacob Parker and Mattie Bell Clark Parker, was born in Iredell County on May 13, 1928. She departed this life on Tuesday, December 15, 2020.

She attended the Iredell County Schools and prior to her retirement she was employed by Troutman Shirt Company. She was a devout Christian and honored God in all she attempted to do. She never met a stranger and was a joy to be around. She is a life time member of Shepherds Church of God SD in Mooresville, NC (Pastor Donald Brown) and attended Mt. Vernon Presbyterian Church (Pastor Otto Gaither) on a regular basis.

She leaves to cherish the memory of her life, two sons, Earnest Carter (Sarah) Sharpe, Jr and Rickey (Dorethea) Young both of Statesville, NC; two daughters, Dorothy (Roman) Culbertson of Cleveland, NC and Sheryl (Robert) Harrison of Wayne, PA; two brothers, David Jones (Ella Mae) Parker and Paul Gray (Mary) Parker, both of Mooresville, NC; one sister Lucy Mills of Mooresville; sister-in-law Mary Lois Parker of Mooresville; nine grandchildren, eight great grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, friends, and caregivers, Ronnie Parker and Debra Teasley.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Earnest Carter Sharpe, Sr.; two sons, William Thomas Sharpe and James Weldon Sharpe; three infant children; one grandson, Orlando Culbertson; siblings Floridie Mutz, Janie Bell Cain, Elder John Parker (Nevada), Elder Jesse Parker, Philip Parker(Alda Mae), and Reuben Parker and brother-in-law Grady Mills.

Mother Mattie Sharpe you have fought the good fight of faith, and have finished your life course with love and dignity; now receive your eternal promise. 2 Timothy 4:8 Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the LORD, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing. We love you-Rest in peace.

Graveside Celebration Services will be conducted on Saturday, December 19, 2020, at 1:00 p.m., at Shepard's Church of God Cemetery, Mooresville. Pastor Donald Brown will Officiate.

There will be NO PUBLIC VISITATION (WAKE), unfortunately, with the COVID-19 Virus. We, at Rutledge and Bigham Funeral Home, along with other funeral homes across the country, have been issued a mandate to limit the number of family and/or friends at funeral services. YOU CAN ONLY ENTER THE FUNERAL WITH A FUNERAL PASS WHICH WILL BE GIVEN TO THE FAMILY.
