The Family Tribute
Mr. Nathaniel Howard Dunlap, Jr.
A smile for all, a heart of gold, one of the finest this world could hold
Never selfish, always kind, these are the memories he leaves behind…
Nathaniel Howard Dunlap Jr., 57, departed this life on Sunday, November 1, 2020, at his residence, unexpectedly. He was born in Iredell County on April 21, 1963, and was the son of Nathaniel Howard Dunlap, Sr. and Joann White Dunlap.
He was married to Ruby Howell Dunlap, who preceded him in death. In addition to his spouse, he was preceded in death by a grandson, Maurice Bernard Campbell, Jr. He was employed by Commercial Trucking as a Truck Driver. He was a member of St. Joseph Baptist Church.
Left to cherish his precious memory in addition to his parents, Nathaniel Dunlap, Sr. and Joann White Dunlap, are his children, Maurice (Kimberly) Campbell of Statesville, Jasmine Dunlap and Tychelle Ashley Campbell, both of Harmony; his former wife of 18 years, Antoinette Campbell Dunlap of Harmony; three grandchildren, Clayton Brown, Nevada Antionette Campbell and Cyrice Campbell; one great-grandchild, Zaylen Brown; four brothers, Steven (Monica) Dunlap of Charlotte, Diarra Dunlap of Nebraska, Shawn Jones of Springfield, MA, and Ryan Jones of Charlotte; five sisters, his twin, Natalie (David) Mott of Statesville, Alfreda Dunlap of Greensboro, Tonya Dunlap (James) Troublefield, Cassandra D. Haberern (Ross) and Sheila Rousseau, all of Statesville; five nephews, five nieces, ten great nieces, one great great niece, aunts, Modean Dunlap, Margaret Dunlap Shipp and Pauline Dunlap Byers; special cousins, Johnnie Bell McClelland, and Thelma (James) Oakley; three special friends, Wayne Church, Tonya Holmes and Phillip “Byrd” Nichols, cousins, other relatives, St. Joseph’s Baptist Church family, and friends.
It seems so unreal that you are gone,
When just the other day
You walked and talked and laughed with us
Then suddenly slipped away
Your peaceful smile, your joyful laugh
How sweet the memory still
The parting left an aching void
This world will never fill.

Sending my prayers and condolences to the family. Nate will truly be missed. Nate and my brother Bird would call, text or message me all times of the night as if I didn’t have a job. Nate would bring Bird to our family function and would fit right in with our family ❤️🙏🏾❤️🙏🏾

I work at Family Dollar in Harmony and knew Nate. He was always smiling and so friendly. I miss him already. Still see his smile and hear his voice. He had a nickname for me ..... he called me G after Fred G. Sanford from the tv show Sanford and Son cause I have a funny walk like Fred Sanford had. It won’t be goodbye....... just see you later.
