Mr. Robert Franklin Albertus Parker
Beloved son of Robert and Lillian McClain Parker was born in Alexander County on March 29, 1930. Robert’s race ended and he entered eternity on February 17, 2021, surrounded by his family at his home.
Robert was a graduate of Happy Plains High School, Taylorsville NC. He proudly served his country in the US Army during the Korean conflict. When he returned home, he met and married Willie L. Jones Parker and this union lasted for 61 years until her death in 2019.
Robert was a lifelong member of Third Creek Baptist Church. He served faithfully until his health began to fail. He served faithfully as a Deacon, Trustee, Senior Choir Member, Men’s choir member and Usher. For a time, he cut the grass for his church. He was willing to serve in whatever capacity was needed.
Robert retired from Hunt Mfg. (Elmers) after 25 years of employment. He also retired from Craftmaster Furniture after 10 years of service. He was always working to provide for his family. His work ethic was a testament to his commitment to his family and an example to follow. He enjoyed gardening and enjoyed sharing fresh vegetables with his family and neighbors.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by his son, Robert and daughter Louise. Brothers: New Haven Parker, Artrue Brown Parker, Charles Benjamin Parker, Fred Lee Parker, Tallie Lloyd Parker, and Willie Eugene Parker. Sisters: Corrine Parker Connor. Siblings Noveta, Silvo and Lucille died in their infancy.
Left to remember and cherish the blessing of his life, his children: Diane J. Coulter of Gastonia, NC, Donna P. Moser of the home and Tameria P. Corpening (Steve) Hickory, NC; grandchildren, Phillip J. Parker of the home who served as primary care-giver during the last weeks of his grandfather’s life, Johnathan A. Coulter of Gastonia, NC and Robert Aaron Parker of Stony Point, NC; his brothers, Farley R. Parker (Agnes) of Stony Point, NC and A. Dale Parker (Bertha) of Stony Point, NC; his sisters, Betty P. Banks of Stony Point, NC, Carrie P. Pulley of Stony Point, NC, Margaret P. Simmons of Spartanburg, SC, and Vallie P. Chen of Stony Point NC; his brother-in-law, Richard (Lillian) Sherrill of Statesville NC; and his large extended family consisting of nieces and nephews he considered as own and cousins who were more like brothers and sisters; and he also leaves behind his legacy of service to his church family at Third Creek Baptist Church, other relatives and friends.
In lieu of flowers the family request donations be made to Hospice & Palliative Care of Iredell County in memory of Mr. Robert Franklin Alburtus Parker.
Weather permitting, Graveside Service will be conducted at Third Creek Baptist Church Cemetery in Stony Point, NC on Sunday, February 21, 2021, at 1:00 p.m. with Rev. Tommy Carpenter officiating.
In the event of inclement weather, services will be held at the Rutledge and Bigham Funeral Home, 603 South Center Street, Statesville, N.C.
