Obituary for Robert Franklin "Bell" Peet Sr.

John 14:1-3 " Let not your hearts be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me.

Mr. Robert Franklin Peet, Sr., passed away on Mach 17, 2021, at Davis Regional Medical Hospital. He was born in Harmony, NC on March 7, 1946, and as the son of the late Frank Johnson and Clara Peet. He was married to Marian Louise Clark Peet, who preceded him in death. A grandchild, Nicole Morrison, his grandmother, Della Holmes Peet (who raised him), and a sister, Sally Bell Johnson, also preceded him in death.

He attended Unity High School and was employed for eighteen years by the North Carolina Department of Transportation prior to his retirement. He was a hardworking man and was a good man to all. He loved his car, truck, motorcycle and mowing grass. But most of all he loved playing cards and loved his family.

He leaves to remember and cherish his life, his children, Robert F. Peet, Jr., Crystal Lachey Peet, and Jack (Mary) Lyons, all of Statesville, NC, Patrick (Kathy) Turner of Candor, NC, Eloise (Gary) Roseboro of Statesville, NC, Cassandra (Parris) Lucas of Norfolk, VA, and Derrick (Sharon) Murdock of Statesville, NC; one sister, Frankcine Johnson of Statesville, NC; three brothers, Ronald Peet of Bowie, Maryland, David Johnson and Jesse Johnson, both of Statesville, NC; a special friend of twenty-three years, Dawn Stevens of the home; nineteen grandchildren, Chanda Morrison of Mooresville, NC who was raised in the home, Robert Franklin “Tre” Peet, III, who was raised in the home, LaSean Tardd of Bronx, NY, Ariel Shemease Turner of Candor, NC, Kinda S. Turner of Norfolk, VA, Inez Haley, Ray Murray Haley, and Tazel Peet, all of Statesville, NC, T’Metrius Peet of Mooresville, NC, Rylie Peet of Hickory, NC, Layla McCoy of Fayetteville, NC, She’Ra Lyons of Statesville, NC, Whitney Ray of Winston-Salem, NC, Hassan Lyons, Tiffany Lyons, Tyrrell Daniels, Derrick Murdock, Jr. and Sarah Murdock, all of Statesville, NC; twenty-eight great grandchildren including Amaad Sharpe of Mooresville, NC; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and dear friends.

Celebration of Life Services will be conducted Thursday, March 25, 2021, at 2:00 p.m. at Rutledge and Bigham Funeral Home, Statesville, NC. Minister Kay Gillespie will officiate and Pastor Harrison Gillespie will eulogize with burial to follow in the Belmont Cemetery.
