Mr. Robert Jackson Valentine passed away on Wednesday, March 30, 2022, at his residence. He was born in Iredell County on July 16, 1949, and was the son of the late Bud and Dare Virginia Steele Valentine, and he was the beloved husband to Betty Moore Valentine for 45 years. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by five brothers, Charles Valentine, Edward Valentine, Johnny Valentine, Hubert Glenn Valentine, and Ronnie Valentine, and a sister-in-law, Maxine Steele.
He was a graduate of Unity High School, and was a member of St. Peter Baptist Church, in Statesville. Robert was a retired employee from the NC Department of Transportation, as a bridge builder. He was honorable discharged from the U.S. Army at Fort Jackson, S.C., in 1973. Robert will truly be missed.
Robert leaves to cherish the memory of his life, his beloved wife, Betty Moore Valentine, of the home; three daughters, Kenya Ramseur, Katasha Valentine, and Kandy Valentine, all of Statesville; one son, Patrick Valentine, of Kansas, Missouri; one brother, Lonnie Steele, of Olin, N.C.; one sister, Velva (James) Stevenson, of Olin, N.C.; seven grandchildren, Kenyal Ramseur, Kailee Ramseur, Khandi Ramseur, John Martin, Keyshawn Valentine, Ernest Ramseur, III, Jaliyah Martin, all of Statesville; six sisters-in-law, Peggy Valentine, Linda Moore, Joyce (Larry) Gray, Bertha Allen, Brenda (Michael) Summers, and Jenny Walker; special friends, Larry Turner, Kippy Dobbins, James Dobbins, Randall Redman, and Denise Feimster (mother of his son); a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, April 2, 2022, at St. Peter Missionary Baptist Church, Statesville, N.C. Mr. Valentine will remain at Rutledge and Bigham Funeral Home until taken to the church to lie in state at 1:00 p.m. Members of the family will receive friends at the church from 1:30 until 2:00 pm.
