Obituary for Rosalind Adele Eckles (Mott)

Isaiah 41:10 " Fear not, for I am with you, be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will uphold you with my right hand.”


Mrs. Rosalind Adele Mott Eckles, 72, was born in Rowan County on April 26, 1950, and was the daughter of the late John Mott and Virginia Avery. She departed this life on Wednesday, August 31, 2022.

Rosalind attended Amity Hill Schools and prior to her retirement was employed as a machine operator at Knitting Mills. She was a faithful member of the Allen Temple Presbyterian Church, Cleveland, NC.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Robert Lee Gaither, and her second husband, William L. Eckles; a son, Brian Lamar Gaither; two sisters, Wanda Cuthbertson and Pamela Crosby and a dear friend, Roy Imes.

She leaves to cherish the memory of her life her son, Robert Gaither of Cleveland, NC; two daughters, Felicia Mott of Spencer, NC, and Bridgett Gibbs (Billy Smyre) of Statesville, NC; two brothers, William "Dennis" Mott of Cleveland, NC, and Lawrence "Charlie" Mott of Statesville, NC; two sisters, Laurie Mott of Cleveland, NC, and Kathy Mott of Salisbury, NC; seven grandchildren, Robert Gaither Jr, Alicia Mott, Kesha Cowan, Maurice Cowan, Candice Smyre, Daphanie Smyre, and Porsha Morrison; three great grandchildren, Lariyah Clark, Kash Smyre, and Khaneil Cowan; one great-great grandchild, Banks Dobbins; and a host of nieces and nephews, other relatives, church family, and friends.

Celebration of Life Services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 10, 2022, at The Living Church, 1608 Shelton Ave. Statesville. Visitation will be held 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 pm. prior to the service. Burial will follow in the Belmont Cemetery.
