Matthew 5:4 "Blessed are They that mourn: for they shall be comforted."

A smile for all, a heart of gold, one of the finest this world could hold
Never selfish, always kind, these are the memories she leaves behind…
Mother Sarah May Jeffries Lowe, daughter of the late Will and Lena Jeffries Smith, was born in York, SC on July 1, 1923. She departed this life on Wednesday, February 19, 2020, at the home of her sister, following an extended illness.
She was educated in the York County School Systems and made her home in Greensboro, NC for many years. She worked at Moses Cone Hospital until she retired. She was a longtime member of United Institute Baptist Church in Greensboro, NC, serving on the Kitchen Committee and as a Mother of the Church. Over the years, she served in various capacities including Deaconess, a member of the Sanctuary Choir, Hour of Power Choir, Woman of the Year and in the Philathia Class Ministry. With a culinary gift, Mother Sarah was known for her cakes and salmon patties. About six years ago, when her health began to fail, she was not able to attend church in Greensboro so she joined First Baptist Church in Lexington under the leadership of Reverend Napper. She lived six months with her sister, Jessie Mason in Lexington. During the six months she stayed with her other sister, Christine Lattimore, she would attend Bibleway Headquarters in Statesville and Bibleway #9 in Lincolnton where the members lovingly called her, Aunt Sarah.
She was twice married, first to L. C. Dawkins and second to Edgar Lowe, both of whom preceded her in death. In addition to her husbands and parents, she was also preceded in death by her siblings, J. W. Smith, Clarence Smith, June Smith, Willie John Smith, Sammie Lee Smith, Walter Dean Smith, Annie Bell Tomlin, Susie McCleave and Lenora McCleave.
She leaves to celebrate and remember the blessing of her life, three siblings, George (Rose) Smith of Hickory, Overseer Christine Lattimore of Statesville and Jessie Mason of Lexington; a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, cousins, other relatives, the United Institute Baptist Church Family, the First Baptist Church Family, the Bibleway Church Family, other relatives, neighbors and friends.
As long as life and memory last… we will remember thee.

Celebration of Life services will be held on Sunday, February 23, 2020, at 3:00 p.m. at the headquarters church, Bibleway Church # 1 in Statesville, N.C. Overseer G. A.
