Torie Lynn Setzer
A smile for all, a heart of gold,
one of the finest this world could hold
Never selfish, always kind,
these are the memories he leaves behind…
Mr. Torie Lynn Setzer, 53, was born in Iredell County on Wednesday, July 23, 1969. He entered into eternal rest on Monday, October 11, 2022, at Gordon Hospice House of Statesville, N.C.
Duckie, as he was affectional called, was a graduate of Statesville High School and graduated with the Class of 1988. He was a great athlete. He played basketball, football, and baseball, but basketball was his favorite. He was formerly employed at J. C. Steele & Sons.
Torie was preceded in death by his loving mother, Maggie Lorene Shuford Setzer, and his father, Samuel Alonzo Mott (Gay); and his brother Wilbur Lafayette "Lil Whip" Setzer.
He leaves to cherish the memory of his life, his two loving daughters, Keshon Cowan (Donavon), and Whitney Setzer; one grandchild, Ka’Ziyah Cowan; four sisters, Teresa Setzer, Chrystal Pass, Trinetta Setzer (Sly), and Lisa Lawrence; three brothers, Calvin Setzer, Keith Setzer (Christina ), and Tyrale Setzer; two uncles, Nathaniel Shuford, and Furman Mott; one aunt, Linda Hammons; and a host of special nieces and nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.
A voice we loved is stilled,
a place is vacant in our home,
Which never can be filled,
our love for you continues.
Celebration of Life Services will be held on Tuesday, October 18, 2022 at 1:00 pm at Mount Pleasant AME Zion Church, Statesville. Visitation will be held from 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm at the church. Reverend Patrick Tate will be officiating and Bishop John Carr, Jr., will deliver the eulogy. Burial will follow in the Belmont Cemetery.
