Obituary for Troy Lee Moore

A smile for all, a heart of gold,
one of the finest this world could hold
Never selfish, always kind,
these are the memories he leaves behind…

Mr. Troy Lee Moore ,49, Statesville, was born in Iredell County October 18, 1971 and was the son of the late Troy and Margie Gibbs Brawley. He passed away Thursday, May 20, 2021 at Iredell Memorial Hospital unexpectedly.

He attended Statesville Schools and was employed at Bird Dog Traffic Control and Road Masters. He was a faithful member of Christ Cathedral of Deliverance where he served on the Deacon Board. In addition to his parents, he was preceded him in death by six uncles, Ernest Brawley, Jamie Brawley, Edward Gibbs, David Gibbs, Michael Gibbs and Anthony Luckey; and six aunts, Alberta Brawley, Sarah Gillion, Betty Jones, Maxine Foster, Sandra Parker and Johnsie Luckey.

He leaves to cherish the memory of his life, one son, Troyshawn Williams of Statesville; two daughters, Troyshay Williams (Brandon Rankins) and Alaska Williams (Thomas Rice), both of Statesville; six grandchildren, Tae’shawn Williams, Treyvione Williams, Riley Rankins, Ava Bethea, Austin Bethea and Brennon Rankins; three brothers, Harry Moore, Jr., Christopher (Tina) Moore, Sr. and Timothy Alexander, all of Statesville; one sister, Stephanie (Curtis) Reid of Statesville; the mother of his children, Africa Williams of Winston-Salem; two uncles, Mitchell (Willie Mae) Brawley and William Gibbs, both of Statesville; five aunts, Annie Mae Connor of Milwaukee, WI, Mary Brawley and Jackqueline Daniels, both of Statesville, Mae Lois Gibbs and Frances (Mack) Warren, both of Washington, DC; his special friend, Thomasine Chambers of Statesville; a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

And although we cannot see you,
You are always at our side.
Our family chain is broken,
And nothing seems the same,
But as God calls us one by one,
The chain will link again.


A special thanks to the Family of Christ Cathedral of Deliverance.

Celebration of Life Services will be conducted Thursday, May 27, 2021, at 2:00 p.m. at Christ Cathedral of Deliverance, Statesville, NC. Apostle Lykes will officiate with burial to follow in the Belmont Cemetery.
