Never selfish, always kind, these are the memories he leaves behind…
Mr. Wilford Jerome Heaggans, Sr., 68, was born in Iredell County on June 17, 1953 and was the son of the late Rufus J. Heaggans, Sr., and Catherine Miller, Heaggans. He departed this life on Thursday, January 27, 2022, at the Citadel, Mooresville, N.C.. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by a niece, Alexandria Heaggans.
He was a 1970 graduate of South Iredell High School, and retired from Duke Power, as a coal handler in 2012, he later started Wil-B-Cookin Catering. Wilford was an avid deer hunter, fisherman, reader, and Sci Fi connoisseur. He loved Western movies, loved to make people laugh, a friend to many, always sweet, and a jokester to the core. Wilford grew up in Mt. Tabor Presbyterian Church and later joined Clark’s Chapel Baptist Church in the late 1980's where he was a member of the Men’s Choir and the Inspirational Choir.
He leaves to cherish the memories of his life, four sons, Thurmond (Kishina) Heaggans, Thurston Heaggans, of Greenville, SC, Wilford (Kisha) Heaggans, III, of Niles, Michigan, and Detrick Heaggans, of Kannapolis, NC; three brothers, Leonard (Mary) Heaggans, of Troutman, NC, Rufus Jr. (Annette) Heaggans, of Statesville, NC, and Derrick Arnold, of Cleveland, NC; three sisters, Sylvia (Zollie) Young, Beverly Heaggans, and Lesia (Curtis) Pearson, all of Statesville, NC; five aunts, Vernie (John) Smith of Cleveland, NC, Melzetta Heaggans, Alfredia (Bob) Blackwell both of Troutman, Gladys (George) Stevenson, and Patricia Walls, both of Statesville, NC; one uncle, Joseph (Dorothy) Heaggans of Statesville, NC; eleven grandchildren, Serenity Heaggans, Kiana (Andrew) Powers, Emmanuel Heaggans, Caden Heaggans, Imani Keaton, Raylen Heaggans, Jaylen Sharpe, Jasmine Heaggans, Jaylen Heaggans, Deja Sharpe, and William Yount; four great- grandchildren, Jayce Sharpe, Cortez Powers, Kiara Powers, and Emmanuel Heaggans, Jr.; a host of other nephews, nieces, cousins, other family and friends.

A Celebration of Life service will be held on Saturday, February 5, 2022, at Rutledge and Bigham Funeral Home, Statesville, N.C., at 12:00 p.m.. Reverend Timothy Porter will officiate and Minister Chris Gibbs, will eulogize. Burial will follow in the Church Cemetery.
Members of the family will receive friends at the funeral home from 11:30 - 12:00 p.m.
