Mr. William Wesley Bass, 38, was born in Columbus, Ohio on May 27, 1984, to Lisa Allison Bass and the late William Wesley Burton. He departed this life on Wednesday, November 30, 2022, at his residence.

William attended Brookhaven High School in Columbus, Ohio and prior to his death worked at Food Lion. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, listening to music, watching movies, taking pictures, exploring different foods, playing cards, football, and basketball. He attended Grace and Truth and was baptized at the early age of eleven. He also attended Davidsonville Baptist Church and loved Gospel music. William loved football and was a fan of the San Francisco 49’s and Ohio State. He was loved by his friends, family, and his children. He had a warm smile for everyone and had never met a stranger. He will be missed by many.

He was preceded in death by his father, William Wesley Burton; grandmothers, Alese Allison Ware, and Sarah Mae Burton; as well as other beloved family members.

He leaves to cherish the memory of his life, his mother, Lisa Bass; a son, Jakobe Williams; two daughters, Keyana Bass, and Minniece "Nupie" Moore; two brothers, Antwan Bass of Columbus, OH, and Taurus Simpson of Springfield, MA; two sisters, Kenya Gillespie of Charlotte, NC, and Tariah Burton of Harrisburg, PA; five uncles, Norris Bass, Juan Bass, Lee Bass, and Joe Bass, all of Columbus, Ohio, and Spencer Burton, of Statesville, NC; six aunts, Carol Hill, Josephine Bass, Jeanie Bass, Roseshall Burgos, all of Columbus, OH, Hazel Young, and Sarah Smith, both of Statesville, NC; a favorite cousin, Carmel Hill; and a host of nieces and nephews, other family members, including special friends, Anthony Reid, Terry Roseboro, and Jerome Derr.

A Celebration of Life service will be held on Saturday, December 10, 2022, at Rutledge and Bigham Mortuary, Statesville, NC. The visitation will be from 1:30 - 2:30 pm at the funeral home. Immediately following the service, the family will assemble at the Bentley Center, Statesville, NC.
