Obituary for Carlos Leonard Gabriel

Carlos Leonard  Gabriel
Mr. Carlos Leonard Gabriel, was born in Cleveland, Ohio on February 10, 1956. He was the son of the late Quentin Gabriel and Edna Mae Gamble Gabriel. He passed away at his home on Sunday, August 10, 2014, as a result of a sudden episode of cardiac arrest.
He was educated in the Cleveland Public School system and was a graduate of John Hay High School in Cleveland. He continued his education at the Art Institute of Pittsburg where he earned an Associate Degree in Photography and also a B. A. Degree in Photography Multimedia from Point Park College n Pittsburgh, Pa. While enrolled as a student in Point Park College, Carlos met Roberta awhile visiting his best friend’s uncle’s house, Rev. Floyd W. Alexander, who was Roberta’s Former Pastor. They were united in marriage on May 5, 1984 and to this union Carlos and Roberta were blessed with three beautiful daughters, April, Erika and Carmen.
Carlos was a retired United States Veteran of the U.S. Navy where he served as an Interior Communications Electrician 1st Class. He also was employed by J.C. Penney’s Distribution Center and Walmart in Statesville, NC. Carlos had a passion for cooking and photography. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity. Carlos was a good man.
Carlos was a faithful member of Cornerstone where he served as an Adult Teacher whenever needed. He was also an ordained Deacon and a man who loved God and possessed a quiet, humble spirit. He had a smile that could melt a heart of stone. He was a man of few words but when he spoke, he always encouraged or inspired whomever he shared his words of wisdom with. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather and friend. He was preceded in death by his parents and daughter Erika Gabriel.
He leaves to cherish the memory of his life in addition to his loving and devoted wife, Roberta of the home; his daughters, April and Carmen of the home; his adopted daughters, Talitha Weeks (Boston, MA) and Stephanie Wyatt (Chicago, IL); two brothers-in-law, Robert Edmunds and Richard Edmunds, both of Pittsburgh, PA; his grandchildren, De’Andre Gabriel, Aereuana Summers and Brandon Malik Torrence, all of Statesville, Nialte Torrence, Kirsean Gabriel; aunts, Patricia Gabriel Haskins; a host of cousins including, Leonard (Patricia) Gabriel of Troutman, Orian Gabriel (Jerry) Holland of Statesville, Michael (Iamina) Gabriel of Cleveland, Cathy Gabriel (Norman) Lovick of Bowie, MD, Todd (Traci) Gabriel of Salisbury, Michael (Erica) Gabriel, Jr. and family of Fort Mill, S. C., Tiana Gabriel of Seoul, South Korea, Kenan (Mykka) Gabriel and Family of Cleveland, Ohio, Cara Gabriel of Seoul, Korea; his best friend, Gerald Frazier of Cleveland, Ohio; other relatives, church family, neighbors, and friends.
